Dr. David L. Morgan
Keynote Speaker
Dr. David L. Morgan received his PhD ins sociology from the University of Michigan, and he is currently an emeritus professor in the Department of Sociology at Portland State University, USA. He is an inter-disciplinary research methodologist, with interests in both qualitative research methods and mixed methods research. In qualitative research, he is widely known for his work on focus groups, including his books, Focus Groups as Qualitative Research, The Focus Group Kit (co-authored with Richard Krueger), Basic and Advanced Focus Groups for Sage, and A New Era in Focus Group Research, (co-edited with Rosaline Barbour), for Palgrave. In a related area, he has published Essentials of Dyadic Interviewing for Routledge. In addition, he has written several articles on qualitative data analysis, including his current interest in using artificial intelligence analyze qualitative data. In mixed methods research, he is best known for his for his work on issues related to paradigms, and more specifically, on pragmatism as a paradigm for mixed methods research. His recent work in this area emphasizes issues related to the integration of qualitative and quantitative research, and the role of qualitatively oriented mixed methods research. He also has written a book for SAGE, Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Methods: A Pragmatic Approach. He has served on the editorial boards for seven journals and has written peer reviews for more than fifty journals. He is currently the series editor for the Qualitative Research Methods Series from Sage (the “little blue books”).

Dr. Arceli Rosario

Dr. Arceli Rosario is the President of the Adventist University of the Philippines. Her involvement in qualitative research includes mentoring, dissertation advising, and conducting training. She served as president of the Asian Qualitative Research Association and co-edited The SAGE Handbook of Qualitative Research in the Asian Context. She is a renowned qualitative research scholar, having mentored thousands of people in qualitative research, published several qualitative research papers and book chapters, designed and taught several qualitative research master’s and doctoral courses, and delivered several keynotes and plenary sessions in qualitative research conferences in different countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas

Dr. Maria Lahman

Dr. Maria Lahman is a qualitative methodology professor at the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado, USA. Her research emphasis areas include the enhancement of ethical and culturally responsive qualitative research and aesthetic research representation. Maria is the author of two textbooks and a forthcoming one, which is an introduction to qualitative research, with Sage. Maria lives with her spouse and two children in Greeley, Colorado with a flock of urban hens. If she ever has free time, she uses it to garden, read, write, and cook.

Dr. Ariel Ramos

Dr. Ariel Ramos is a distinguished professor at Cebu Technological University in the Philippines with a renowned passion for advocating qualitative research for community transformation and development. His qualitative papers, published as journal articles and book chapters, are translated into community extension projects for marginalized members of the community. His commitment to advocating qualitative research not only enriches the academic community but also empowers students and educators alike as he mentors them in embracing qualitative research, making him a silent contributor to the advancement of education in his community.

Dr. Genevieve Boucaud
Plenary Speaker
Dr. Genevieve Boucaud is an experienced educational administrator and educator with a distinguished career spanning the Caribbean, United States, and Asia at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. She holds a PhD in Educational Administration (Statistics and Technology) and a master’s in education (Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment). Currently serving as the Dean of the School of Distance Education at a regional Caribbean university, Dr. Boucaud is actively engaged in research and faculty development. In regard to qualitative research, she has a special affinity for the Delphi method, though her publications also include phenomenology and critical theory and she has reviewed various qualitative research methodologies. Additionally, Dr. Boucaud has taught research methods for education and psychology at the postgraduate level and served as graduate thesis advisor, including guiding emerging scholars in qualitative inquiry. She further contributes to the field as a peer reviewer and serves as a board member of the International Advisory Board of Qualitative Research Connect, LLC. She is also an educational consultant specializing in teacher education, research methodology, online program administration, online instructional design and development, technology integration, and brain-based learning and her experience in these areas open a world of research opportunities.

Dr. Lucy Oliveira

Dr. Lucy Oliveira is an assistant professor of Political Science at the Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil. She is a consultant in content analysis and software for qualitative and quantitative text analysis, and a professional trainer for MAXQDA. Her research interests include: political communication; presidential discourse; media, gender and race; and mixed methods for analyzing communications and electoral campaigns.
